Plans for magazine: sketches, mock ups etc

This is what |I would like my front cover to look like it has a clear rap theme and presents lots of attitude however this is just a plan and will probably change by the time I finish the final page.

This was a first attempt to do a front cover, however after comparing this to other already established hip-hop/rap magazines i realised that this did not go with the stereotypical conventions of this genre of music magazine, so i thought I would redo it, looking more closely at the conventions and stereotypes. When I redo it i will make sure my models have more 'attitude' in order to present  my rap genre more clearly.

This is what i would like my contents page to look like it is just a work in progress and will probably change from here to the final page, the models in these photos present their attitude clearly and hopefully i will be able to convey attitude to my audience through my models facial expressions and general through their general body language.

This was a first attempt to do a contents page, however after comparing this to other already established hip-hop/rap magazines i realised that this did not go with the stereotypical conventions of this genre of music magazine, so i thought I would redo it, looking more closely at the conventions and stereotypes. also this was very off centred and untidy and so was did not look like a very good contents page, however i do want to keep a slightly untidy theme as my magazine is called 'Anarchy'.

This is a rough idea of what i want my final double page spread to look like, the picture is good and goes with the rap genre of the magazine, however the colours aren't very good and don't go with the house style i want for my magazine so i will change that when i do my final double page spread also the text needs to be put into columns and i also think i need to enlarge the amount of text, i also might make a fact file for the artist to give it a more factual and realistic feel.

This is my double page spread the image of my artist is on the left page and the text is on the right page. The article has a pull quote which will be in a much larger font than the rest of the text. the title of the article is catchy and alliterated this will attract the audience. the main title of the page is effective this is in a graffiti text which is stereotypical of the hip hop genre.

this is a picture that i plan to take a photo of, it is an image of two artists standing back to back they are wearing baggy clothes which is stereotypical of hip hop performers. the background will be smaller so that the artist are more Central. the background will be plain.

this is my contents page it contains a large image of my mainly featured artist, it also has names and smaller pictures of other featured artists featured in the magazine, it also has a 'regulars' section this contains news, gigs and reviews.

this is an image of 'suus' my main featured artist, standing in front of a plain background, this image will be the main photo on my front page, he will be standing at a 45 degree angle from the camera. the baseball cap, jacket and baggy jeans is a hip hop stereotype.

this is a landscape photo it will go at the bottom of the front page it is up against a brick background they will be wearing hip hop style clothing.

this is the front cover it will have the same house style as the rest of my magazine 'blue and white'  it will have a large picture of my main feature on the front it will also have the names of some other featured artists on the front.

this image is for the double page spread, it has a white background and the artist is facing left as if to be looking at the text on the other page, he will be wearing stereotypical baggy clothes.

this image will be taken in a dark room using an led to define their faces they will be looking straight at the camera this is to create a spooky look.

Double Page Spread article

When Suus enters a room you certainly know he’s arrived, he radiates confidence and at the same time is so laid back and calm. He came into this interview with a  grin from one ear to the other and stating ‘my album just went platinum’  he was so ecstatic he seemed to be  talking a thousand words a minute,

I didn’t get a word   in for ten minutes. This is my second interview with the young rapper from Newcastle; the first time was for a specialist magazine named Zune which interviews upcoming  Talents and he hasn’t changed he oozed star quality  from the word go, telling me his hopes and dreams  which in fact he seems to be continuing to live through  as he said “It’s like a dream and I really don’t want it to  end” He has just finished his tour of his ‘recently’ platinum  album,

He filled the biggest stadiums and arenas in all of  the UK including Wembley Which seats 90,000 and stands thousands more and filling it was a feat that the most established and experienced stars wouldn’t attempt, but Suus as I say  full of confidence and believed he could do it he said’ ‘of course i thought I could do it my fans are great they would follow me to the ends of the world’

When I asked him what the journey has been like since the last time we met 4 he replied ‘I feel as though I have swapped lives with  someone else, everything in my life has just falling into place and now my album has just gone platinum I’m a

As Suus is only 20 years of age he is officially the youngest ever performer to have an album go platinum which is incredible, especially in time when British hip hop is dying, in the past few years Suus has sparked a hip hop revolution against the modern day music which in his words ‘is taking over and rotting the minds of the public’.

He began to talk about his manager definition the Northeast rapper of the early 90’s, who unfortunately never got the break he deserved. Suus said ‘ the man is a genius he has such incredible ideas and always helps me when I’m writing he has been with me from the start and will be there till the end’ I had to wrap up the interview and so my final question to the rap sensation was what next? His reply was who knows I have my whole life ahead of me and Definition has big plans for me , its surreal’

Research into fonts

I did a survey on fonts, size and colour of the texts and gave it too 100, 15-17 year olds which is my main target audience and here are the results.
